Description
One Dynamic System Radio is brought to you by interdisciplinary artist, Justin Levesque. That’s me.
For the last eight years of my creative practice, I’ve been making connections and artworks examining Maine’s growing relationship to Iceland, the Arctic, and the North Atlantic. First, I created an artist residency with Eimskip which allowed me to sail from Maine to Iceland on a container ship. And then I crossed into the Arctic Circle on a tall ship during an artist fellowship with writers, scientists, and musicians.
There’s a whole lot more to the story, but somewhere in there, I even got to meet Björk, a literal dream come true.
So, come aboard One Dynamic System Radio, every Wednesday from 10–11:30am, where we’ll continue to explore the North Atlantic, together, by experiencing music from the region. We’ll traverse all genres of sound throughout both time and place.
“ONCE WE HAVE GRASPED THAT WIND, EARTH, AND WATER ARE ALL PARTS OF ONE DYNAMIC SYSTEM OF WHICH HUMANKIND IS ALSO A MEMBER, WE WILL BETTER UNDERSTAND NOT JUST OUR TERRAQUEOUS PLANET BUT ALSO OURSELVES.” – JOHN R. GILLIS, THE HUMAN SHORE
(Oh, if you were wondering, the Maine North Atlantic Development Office defines the North Atlantic as: Atlantic Canada, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, and Scotland.)
