The return of live music to WMPG
Local Motives at WMPG returns tonight (Friday) with a live session by local band Luniere . Songwriters Calen Perkins, Jason Roman and Geoff Zimmerman met at a coffee shop open mic. What began as a weekly sharing of original songs evolved into a full-fledged band. They added drummer, Eric Landau one year later. WMPG Record/CD Sale postponed until spring
We hate to do this again but due to the increase in Covid-19 cases we are postponing our annual Record/CD sale until the spring. We are still accepting donations for the sale but unfortunately we just have to be careful with this and as anyone who has been knows, it gets very crowded at the sales tables. Tales of Bells & Drums
This week we had musicians, singers and drummers from West Guinea, Rwanda and Burundi in our studio to talk about their event – Tales of Bells & Drums is an event organized by Ikirenga Cy’intore and in collaboration with Batimbo United and New Moon Ensemble. Stories of their lives are told through dancing and drumming. We were treated to song and dance and WMPG Radio are excited to be supporting this event in September.
