In the Arts with Shoni Currier airs on Thursdays at 1pm.  Due to a technical glitch, there was an error in broadcasting todays episode with Shoni and her guests which featured discussions around a new arts space in Freeport,  Meeting House Arts. Local Motives at WMPG returns tonight (Friday) with a live session by local band Luniere . Songwriters Calen Perkins, Jason Roman and Geoff Zimmerman met at a coffee shop open mic. What began as a weekly sharing of original songs evolved into a full-fledged band. They added drummer, Eric Landau one year later. They now draw from their wide range of musical tastes to collaborate under the name “Luniere” on original songs that showcase vocal harmonies, pop, rock…

This past Thursday the Recovery Oriented Campus Center and WMPG radio featured music, stories of recovery, and conversations about getting support. We were taking call-ins throughout the broadcast. We hate to do this again but due to the increase in Covid-19 cases we are postponing our annual Record/CD sale until the spring. We are still accepting donations for the sale but unfortunately we just have to be careful with this and as anyone who has been knows, it gets very crowded at the sales tables. This week we had musicians, singers and drummers from West Guinea, Rwanda and Burundi in our studio to talk about their event – Tales of Bells & Drums is an event organized by Ikirenga Cy’intore and in collaboration with Batimbo United and New Moon Ensemble.  Stories of their lives are told through dancing and drumming. We were treated to song and dance and WMPG Radio are excited to be supporting this event in September. Saturday Sept 4, 2021 5.30 – 7.30pm at Merrill Auditorium….
