I've always been attracted to music. I remember as a young child listening to the jazz of Louis Armstrong and Stan Getz my parents played. Then the Beatles hit and everything changed . Rock tunes crept into the repertoire of the AM station that was always playing in the kitchen. I soon had my own AM radio and I distinctly remember listening to the Beatles, Nat King Cole, Yardbirds, Frank Sinatra, and others all on the same channel. It was a great introduction to different styles of music. Then WBCN radio switched from classical to rock and my path became clear. By then I was buying vinyl and through groups like Cream I discovered the blues. After the blues I was turned on to jazz through the music of Count Basie and I still listen to those genres today. I still listen my favorite rock bands and I have favorite bands in many other genres too. But I return to blues and jazz most often.
I'm always trying to turn my friends on to my music and WMPG has given me the chance to reach a wider audience. I can't picture my life without music.
