Michael Danahy hosted The Friday Quilting Bee on WMPG from 1990 to 2002. He featured much local music and released a compilation CD of folk-adjacent Portland- and Maine-based artists called This is Aggressive Folk.
After some time away from Portland, hosting Local Motives is his way of reacquainting himself with what’s going on musically in Southern Maine.
In a previous life Michael performed as a singer-songwriter at colleges, festivals and listening rooms around New England. He has been quietly recording as an amateur – not for money but for the love of it – and will be releasing his “electro-acoustic pop noise” under the project name Daffodil-11, including Under a Fallout Shelter Sky, act one of a five-act sci fi post-human post-rock opera.
