Jim Ward

Host of "The Harp and Bard Irish Radio Program with Jim Ward" that airs Sundays from 2-3:30pm and is Maine's longest running Irish radio program!

Jim has been with WMPG since 1999 and has hosted and filled in on shows that have aired at various times during the day or night! Jim has also been WMPG's Sports Director and is the current Play-by-Play voice for University of Southern Maine Ice Hockey and called the 2006 NCAA Women's D-III Basketball Final Four from Springfield, MA LIVE on WMPG.

Jim is originally from Massachusetts and grew up on the North Shore and Merrimack Valley. Jim is a graduate of Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica where he majored in Business Technologies. Jim is an inductee to the Shawsheen Tech Hall of Fame.

Jim's broadcasting career started at BATV (Billerica Access TV) calling Billerica High School and Shawsheen Tech High School Athletics as well as being the sports anchor for BATV's Weekly Live News program!

Jim joined WMPG in October of 1999 and has been a mainstay ever since. Jim has been a studio producer, show/fill-in host, show engineer, and since 2002 has been the host and producer of the Annual WMPG Christmas Eve Radio Marathon.

Jim has one son who resides in New Hampshire! Away from WMPG, Jim has been a volunteer Little League Umpire since 1984. Jim has been selected to umpire in the 2008 & 2016 Ltitle League Softball Eastern Regionals and 2017 Ltitle League Junior Softball Eastern Regionals.

Jim was recently inducted into the University of Southern Maine Athletic's Hall of Fame winning the David F. Drew III Award! The David F. Drew III Service Award is given annually by the Department of Athletics to someone who distinguishes themselves with volunteer service to the athletic department.
