Ever wonder how many songs WMPG plays in a year?
Last year, WMPG played an incredible grand total of 101,290 songs. That is over 100,000 songs! Genres played range from country and folk, hip-hop and rap, electronic and dance, rock and pop, songs from around the world, and some gems so wild we don’t even know what to call them. All this music was were handpicked by USM students and volunteers from right here – from the Southern Maine community.
Unique Plays
In 2024, WMPG played an impressive 63,773 unique songs and featured 31,170 unique artists. A “unique play” means each song or artist is counted only once, regardless of how often it aired during the year. These numbers highlight the incredible dedication of our student and volunteer DJs, who pour their passion for music into creating fresh, innovative shows. From emerging artists and local musicians to timeless classics, WMPG delivers a truly extraordinary variety of music.
