WMPG’s annual Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras and the Cajun Cookin’ Contest.

On Tuesday February 21st in the USM Abromson building on the Portland campus, WMPG presented our 27th annual Mardi Gras Cajun Cookin’ Contest!
The room was filled with amazing food, music and people as we celebrated Mardi Gras! After taking a break due to the pandemic, it was exiting to be celebrating again with our USM community along with people from all parts of southern Maine – all coming to enjoy the celebration and taste the foods of New Orleans. And, of course to vote for their favorite.
This year’s winner was Sodexo with their delicious Etouffe Macaroni N’ Cheese with Garlic Shrimp. They also provided two King Cakes. We also had tasty dishes presented by Ruski’s, Bayside American Cafe, Po Boys & Pickles, the Great Lost Bear and Soul Food Paradise.
A huge thanks to all the WMPG volunteers who helped make it happen along with the restaurants and Sodexo Dining Services for making it such a fun event. We are already planning for next year! WGME TV visited the event. Click here to watch their feature.
