Barn Dance Radio
About 6 years ago, two things happened. I had my grandfather's fiddle restored, and I heard (through wmpg) that Don Roy was offering a fiddle workshop at the old Center for Cultural Exchange.
That workshop eventually became Fiddleicious, and my musical life hasn't been the same since!
And now enter--Barn Dance Radio--
Join me as we journey through a musical maze of great fiddle playing from New England and Eastern Canada. You will hear a mostly Franco-American style of playing, but you will also hear Irish, Cape Bretton (Scottish), old time, and who knows what else. the last half hour of each show will be a "Pot Luck" of radio listening, where you could hear anything from Native American music to Mongolian music.
I will also try to keep you up to date on contra dances, concerts, festivals and workshops.
Barn Dances and contra dances are very much a living tradition. Hopefully this show will be EAR CANDY enough for you to give it a try.
Epoxy glue your radio dial to WMPG, crank it up to 11, and DANCE!!!
